Reproduction on pedestal of a child from the victorian era in white painted plaster with fawn colored base: louise brongniart aged 5 in 1777 after the work of jean-antoine houdon - great french sculptor of the 18th century (1741-1828). Good vintage condition: some small chips of paint on the pedestal (see photos) and some brush marks on the white color. There remains under the base traces of a protective foam.
J-a houdon also sculpted the bust of louise's brother: alexandre, aged 7. These two portraits were reproduced in marble, bronze, plaster and enjoyed great popularity.They remained in the brongniart family until their acquisition by the louvre in 1898 and 1900.
